Festival Film Jakmèl is a collaborative effort between Haitians and foreigners. Each year, more than 150 people participate in various capacities to produce the Festival. The aim of this collaborative exchange is to strengthen local capabilities in film and festival production to improve the quality of Haitian films and related events. Ultimately the Festival leadership, management and technical workforce will become entirely local.
